Tetris Didn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification May Address This Issue

As any major prize-giving event approaches, there’s always an outcry for introducing additional classifications to recognize unsung work and satisfy the hearts of enthusiasts with niche passions.

A fellow writer previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. The same goes for strategy board titles, which is someone's personal cause. However, I must insist when I prioritize just as with other dedicated enthusiasts, I possess a compelling case for why my demand is the most urgent and important of all. Here's the proposal: We need a category for puzzle games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Organizing artistic expressions is not a science; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably start arguments and end in fuzzy definitions. This explains why movie academies steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents an essential concession for the industry of interactive entertainment, which are so diverse they hardly constitute one unified medium.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of interactive entertainment excellence to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

Prominent interactive entertainment events offer these genre categories for Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these six categories successfully include numerous genres, making space possible for most games within them.

Not so for brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears to put them. Examine these examples from outstanding current releases, all very different: the architectural riddles of one title, intense tile-matching of another game, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. What category would fit them between these six categories? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens outstanding logic titles released every year lacking appropriate categories during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit for categories like Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging small studio competitions.

  • One classic puzzle game wasn’t nominated completely in 2014
  • A different innovative game received no nominations that year
  • Popular arranging title got ignored that year
  • Only a few logic titles managed to sneak into independent or mobile categories

Significance of Puzzle Games

Commonly they're small games, however the design in brain-teasers holds tremendous importance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as most engaged experiences globally and have been for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title competes with popular creative games competing to become best-selling game of all time; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones for gaming as medium, while interacting with diverse game types.

The Solution and Justification

Puzzle games wouldn’t have this problem. It would be easy to populate five nominees with fascinating, diverse, deserving games each ceremony simply — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

Restating the point, these represent titles lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Puzzle game makers function at the demanding boundary of video game design, developing some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Just like movie stunt professionals, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay decades.
